A shock loss to a premiership contender reminded us of a favourite we'd almost written off, while a luckless side finally claimed their first win in 2020.
The Catholic Church 1279 vs. NANA Winner 1400
After a stellar win over Beat Jesse in Round 3, The Catholic Church found themselves in the top four for the first time in over a year, but after just one week, they’re now back on the outside.
They fell to last year’s premiers in a relatively close affair, but NANA Winner’s depth was on full display as they managed a total of 1400 despite no triple-digit performances from their side.
A 4-1 record is a strong possibility for NANA Winner who visit Max’s Team in Round 4, while The Catholic Church host The UUFFT, fresh off their first win in 2020.
BEST: Jarrod Berry (TCC, 116), Tim English (TCC, 102), Andrew Gaff (NW, 93)
Max’s Team 1369 vs. Gabe’s Team 1517
Heading into Saturday night, many thought Max’s Team might be the first side to overcome Gabe’s Team, but some big scores from Gabe’s Team in the second half of the round quickly killed the dream of an upset.
Both Lachie Neale and Sam Docherty scored tons, with now certainly a good time for Coach Fienemann to bring up the 2019 Tim Taranto trade that saw him land both those assets.
Max’s Team finally showed some signs of life after a slow first two weeks since the restart, while Gabe’s Team - the only side to hit 1500 this week - continued to prove that they’re the team to beat in 2020.
BEST: Lachie Neale (GT, 123), Sam Docherty (GT, 110), Brodie Grundy (MT, 117)

Heeney Some Milk 1282 vs. The UUFFT 1360
The two winless sides went head-to-head in Round 4, with The UUFFT recording their first win of the season by knocking over the wooden spoon favourites, Heeney Some Milk.
The loss now drops Heeney Some Milk to 0-4, however the young side have proven to be more competitive than some predicted, with an average losing margin of just 38 points over their past four games.
The win was certainly overdue for The UUFFT, who dealt with a tough fixture for the first three weeks, but now they have the chance to string some wins together and join in the battle for that last spot in the top four.
BEST: Max Gawn (UUFFT, 99), Taylor Adams (UUFFT, 96), Brad Ebert (UUFFT, 91)

BOO 1170 vs. Beat Jesse 1440
It’s certainly the upset of the season so far, and could well remain the upset of the season for the rest of the year, with Beat Jesse recording a 270-point thumping over premiership contenders BOO.
After suffering their first loss of the season last week - when they finally matched up against strong competition - many thought Beat Jesse’s then 2-1 record didn’t truly display the competitiveness of Roberts’ side.
However, after their statement victory over BOO in Round 4, it’s safe to say there’s no further questions about Beat Jesse’s strengths, but if they do want to make just one more statement… then their Round 5 matchup against Gabe’s Team provides the perfect opportunity.
BEST: Hugh McCluggage (BEJ, 105), James Worpel (BEJ, 99), Jack Steele (BEJ, 98)
