Nana's Summer Summary

With the 2021 Nana’s Draft just weeks away, let’s take a look at the trades that occurred over the offseason.

Just three trades were completed over summer, with teams also delisting 11 players each in preparation for the upcoming draft.

Trades

The Catholic Church Receive: Sam Walsh, Shai Bolton, 2021 Pick 41, 2021 Pick 81

The UUFFT Receive: Nic Newman, Jordan Dawson, Luke Parker, 2021 Pick 3

Our first trade for summer, involving The Catholic Church and The UUFFT, was potentially the biggest trade in Nana’s history.

Young superstar Sam Walsh was a shock departure from last season’s wooden spooners, with the midfielder averaging 94 across his last five games in the COVID-affected 2020.

Shai Bolton also finds himself in new colours this year, as the 22-year-old Bolton and 20-year-old Walsh make their way for some more mature recruits.

28-year-olds Luke Parker and Nic Newman were included in the blockbuster deal, with Newman returning to the team that originally drafted him back in 2019.

The relatively fresh Jordan Dawson also heads to The UUFFT coming off a 2020 that featured some impressive scores for a defender.

The UUFFT also find themselves now holding picks one and three in the upcoming draft, after The Catholic Church parted ways with what was originally Max’s Team’s 2021 first round selection.

Guess who's back? Nic Newman returns to The UUFFT in 2021

Heeney Some Milk Receive: Luke Shuey

NANA Winner: Receive: John Noble, Pick 82

As they seem to do every offseason, Heeney Some Milk and NANA Winner agreed upon a pre-delistings trade.

Two-time Nana Champion Luke Shuey, will provide the struggling Heeny Some Milk with some much needed leadership and hopefully consistency. The 30-year-old will become the oldest player at the club alongside Nic Naitanui.

The young defender in John Noble narrowly avoided a second delisting in the one season, with NANA Winner swooping on the 23-year-old to add a bit of youth to their championship roster.

Heeney Some Milk Receive: 2026 Rd 9

The Catholic Church Receive: Pick 66

In both team’s second trade for the summer, Heeney Some Milk, who still held excess draft picks, sent their ninth-rounder to The Catholic Church in exchange for a 2026 ninth round selection.

In other words, Heeney Some Milk traded Pick 66 for potentially someone who is currently 13-years-old at the time of the trade.
